NATIONAL NEWS - Higher Education and Training Minister Blade Nzimande says that his department will not be paying his former deputy Mduduzi Manana’s legal costs that relate to the assault case against him.
Manana announced on Saturday that he was resigning from his post.
He is due to appear in the Randburg magistrates court next month on two charges of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
Democratic Alliance (DA) MP Yusuf Cassim wanted to know whether the Department of Higher Education and Training would pick up Manana’s legal bill.
In a written response, Nzimande makes it clear that Manana will be responsible for his own legal fees.
