GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Local hairdresser Victor 'Vic' Verwey has delicious Deep fried ice cream with chocolate sauce for six on today's menu:
Ingredients
- 12 scoops of ice cream
- 100 g wholewheat breadcrumbs, dried
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- oil for deep frying
- Chocolate sauce
- 200 g dark chocolate
- 250 ml cream
Method
1. Form the ice cream into even balls and roll in the breadcrumbs until well coated.
2. Dip each ice cream ball into the beaten egg and then immediately into the breadcrumbs. Place into the freezer to allow the ice cream to firm up.
3. Combine the chocolate and cream and heat gently until smooth and creamy.
4. Heat the oil for deep frying and fry the ice cream until golden and crispy.
To serve
Serve two balls per serving covered in chocolate sauce.
A tip from Vic
The chocolate sauce can be made either in a saucepan over a double boiler on the stove, or in a heat resistant bowl in the microwave. When using the microwave, stir the mixture every minute to prevent the chocolate from burning.
