GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - A local primary school is going to upgrade its security after a suspicious woman allegedly walked into the school hostel and tried to leave with a child.
The incident happened late yesterday afternoon, Wednesday 18 September.
Word is spreading about the alleged incident on Facebook.
According to the school's principal, the woman entered the hostel and told the staff that she came to fetch her child. However, the woman could not name or describe the child.
She was denied access to the hostel and the woman left.
The police did not want to comment on the issue, but the principal said the police did visit the school after the incident.
A voice message from a concerned person, with interests in the hostel, was posted on social media, warning people to be on the lookout for the woman.
Police spokesperson, captain Bradley Rawlinson, did not confirm a police investigation, nor a police search for the woman. He, however, asked parents to be aware of the safety of their children.
The Advertiser is withholding the school’s name, due to the sensitivity of the incident.
This is a developing story.
