Update
GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The two accused in the murder of the 66-year-old Mynhardt Maloyi are still awaiting a date for their first high court appearance.
Nomphelo Maloyi and Lwazi Kay, who stand accused of murdering Maloyi, appeared in the Graaff-Reinet Regional Court on Friday 19 January.
The duo's case was referred to the high court on 9 January after the District Public Prosecutor determined that the information contained in the investigation report is of such serious nature that it can no longer be heard in the regional court.
The case was postponed until 30 January as the attorney who represented Kay, Nkosazana Gcumisa, is no longer with Legal Aid South Africa and his case now needs to be taken over by a new candidate attorney.
Maloyi is still represented by Zolile Ngqeza Attorneys from Gqeberha, the attorney who took over the case after PW Meyer and Associates stepped down from representing her in March last year.
Both accused will have to be represented by advocates when the case moves to the high court. At this point it is not known who the advocates will be.
