KAROO NEWS - The Eastcape Midlands TVET College, Graaff-Reinet recently presented a work readiness workshop as part of its Exit Strategy Plan.
The aim of the programme is to empower unemployed young people to contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities.
The focus of the day was to develop soft skills for students who are finishing their studies including CV writing techniques, work ethics, communication and conflict resolution, amongst others.
The workshop was attended by representatives of arts and culture and the museums, the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), the Department of Employment and Labour and Standard Bank SA who shared their insights and experience about work readiness. Ntebo Ntebo, a career counsellor of the Department of Labour and Employment equipped the students with CV writing skills, while Nosidima Maneli, NYDA Sarah Baartman District coordinator, spoke about products and services the agency supply to the youth.
Heinrich Sweli, job placement officer at Eastcape Midlands TVET College, said the workshop is in line with the college's mission to provide employable graduates for the industry.
Other speakers included the head of the Graaff-Reinet Museum, Dr Anziske Kayster and Standard Bank's Valmay Salvers.
