KAROO NEWS - The fourth sale of the 2025 winter season took place in Port Elizabeth on 21 October, with 183 507 kg on offer of which 99% was sold.
The offering consisted of good quality mohair of which 78% was RMS certified.
The South African rand traded slightly weaker than the US dollar compared to the previous sale. Buying houses competed actively for the mohair on offer which positively impacted the price of all segments of the market.
The average market indicator closed on R 358.85 p/kg which is 5% (4% up in dollar terms) higher than the previous sale.
A higher price of R850.00 p/kg was paid for a bale of super style 25 micron kid mohair.
Compared to the previous sale, prices were as follows: Kids Up 1% Young Goats Up 7% Fine Adults Up 4% Strong Adults Up 4% Average Up 5% The fifth sale of the 2025 winter season will take place on 11 November.
