Position overview
The Construction Foreman in Graaff Reinet will be responsible for coordinating site activities, supervising workers and subcontractors, monitoring workmanship, enforcing health and safety standards, and ensuring that project targets are met.
The ideal candidate must be hands-on, organised, technically competent, and able to lead teams effectively under pressure.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day construction activities on site.
- Allocate tasks to site staff, tradespeople, labourers, and subcontractors.
- Read, interpret, and explain construction drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Monitor work progress against project schedules and report delays or challenges.
- Ensure workmanship meets required quality standards and project specifications.
- Enforce compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements on site.
- Coordinate materials, tools, equipment, and labour to support smooth site operations.
- Identify and resolve site issues quickly to minimise delays and rework.
- Maintain accurate site records, including attendance, work completed, materials used, and incidents.
- Communicate professionally with project managers, engineers, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Minimum requirements
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience as a Construction Foreman, Site Foreman, or Site Supervisor.
- Proven experience in building, residential, commercial, civil, or related construction projects.
- Relevant construction qualification, or strong practical construction background.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans, levels, and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, site procedures, quality control, and safety requirements.
- Valid driver’s licence preferred.
- Computer literacy and basic reporting skills will be advantageous.
- Must Reside in the greater Robert Sobukwe /Graaff Reinet Area.
