EASTERN CAPE NEWS - The Eastern Cape matric pass rate for 2022 is 73,3%, while the Sarah Baartman District pass rate is slightly higher at 75,5%.
Some schools in the Dr Beyers Naude area showed vast improvements while others had markedly lover pass rates.
The matric pass rate of the schools in the Dr Beyers Naude municipal area in no particular order:
- Q 3 Aberdeen SS - Pass rate is 60%. Of the 60 who wrote, 36 passed. In 2021 the pass rate was 64,4%. as 38 of the 59 matrics passed.
- Q 3 Asherville SS - Pass rate is 42,3%. Of the 97 who wrote, 41 passed. The 2021 pass rate was 43,2. when 41 of the 95 matrics passed.
- Q 5 Hoer Volkskool - Pass rate is 96,9%. Of the 64 who wrote, 62 passed. The 2021 pass rate was 98,2. with 55 of the 56 matrics who passed.
- Q 3 Nqweba SS - Pass rate is 82,9. Of the 105 who wrote 87 passed. In 2021 the pass rate was 52,3%. A massive improvement of 30,6%!
- Q 3 Spandau SS - Pass rate is 61,3%. Of the 168 matrics, 103 passed. In 2021 the pass rate was 61,7%.
- Q 5 Union High - Pass rate is 96,6%. Of the 59 matrics, 57 passed. In 2021 the school had a 100% pass rate.
- Q 3 Willowmore SS - Pass rate is 70,8%. Of the 72 matrics, 51 passed. In 2021 the pass rate was 52,9%. Huge improvement.
- Q 3 Carel du Toit High - Pass rate is 45,3%. Of the 53 matrics, 24 passed. The 2021 pass rate was 74,3%. A huge decline in 2022.
- Q 1 Gcinubuzwe SS - Pass rate is 67,1%. Of the 73 who wrote, 49 passed. The 2021 pass rate was 51,8%. Huge improvement.
- Q 3 Hoerskool Jansenville - Pass rate is 100% with all 40 matrics who passed. In 2022 92,5% passed. Well done!
- Q 3 Klipplaat SS - Pass rate is 43,8% with 7 of the 16 matrics who passed. Last year the pass rate was 94,1% with 17 matrics who wrote. What went wrong?
Quintiles explained
Schools in each province are therefore classified into five groups from the most poor to the least poor.
For example Quintile 1 is a group of schools in each province catering for the poorest 20% of schools. Quintile 2 caters for the next poorest 20% of schools while Quintile 5 schools represent the least poor.
Schools receive money from government according to Quintiles. Quintile 1 schools receive the highest allocation per learner, while Quintile 5 receives the lowest.
