GRAAFF-REINET POLITICAL NEWS - Petronella April of Nieu Bethesda is contesting ward 2 on behalf of the African National Congress.
She is a single parent with three dependents, who was born and raised in Nieu-Bethesda. She has a secondary school qualification.
April, young women who is a leader in her own right, has been an active supporter and member of the ANC movement since the early nineties. She served as on various portfolios within the Branch Executive Committee, her most noteworthy roles being as secretary and treasurer.
Currently she is representing the community on different statutory and non- statutory structures. She is the Chairperson of the Community Policing Forum for Nieu Bethesda and a member of the School Governing Body of the local primary school, as well as Vice Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Sneeuwitjie Early Childhood Development Centre.
April has attended a number of educational and training sessions within the Party.
She is currently involved in the Nieu Bethesda Women's Cooperative as a supervisor of the woollen crafters.
