GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — The Annual General Meeting of the Graaff-Reinet Community Tourism Office was held recently at The Drostdy Hotel and was very well attended.
Vice-Chairman David McNaughton welcomed all present, and apologies were recorded from 33 members.
The minutes of the previous AGM were accepted, with no matters arising from them.
The chairperson Marizanne Mills thanked the Drostdy Hotel for providing the venue for the AGM and then delivered her report.
Treasurer Brian Hough presented the financial statements for the year, duly audited by Auditors Gerber, Botha, Gowar. Copies of these reports, as well as the attendance register, are available for perusal at the Tourism Office for anyone who is interested.
Seven members were elected to the executive committee: Marizanne Mills, Ailsa Grobler, Brian Hough, Ian Alleman, Heather Vorster, Janus Schoeman, and Anneri Fitzgerald. Cllr Samantha Graham mentioned that a municipal councillor would attend the meetings ex officio.
In the time allocated for general matters, one member asked about the plans of the Tourism Office for the next year, and Cllr Linda Botha asked about generating new membership. David McNaughton stated that ideas would be carried over to the new committee.
Guest Speaker Nick de Goede from SANParks delivered an informative talk and answered questions from the floor.
A lucky draw, sponsored by committee members, was held, and then all members were invited to join the committee for refreshments and snacks after the meeting.
