GRAAFF-REINET NEWS – The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) has been in Graaff-Reinet since early this morning and is urgently calling on all healthy individuals, between the ages of 16 and 65 and weighing more than 50kg, to donate blood at a blood drive being held in the town today, Monday, 16 April.
Working till 17:00? You can still donate!
The blood drive being held at the Te Water Hall in Bourke Street is running until 18:00 this evening.
Less than 1% of South Africans are active blood donors. A unit of blood only lasts 42 days after donation and, for this reason, it is important for blood donors to donate regularly.
Donors can give blood as often as every eight weeks. Every unit of blood can save up to three lives as blood is separated into red blood cells, plasma and platelets.
