GRAAFF-REINET - On a sweltering day in Graaff-Reinet, the Stallions side took on Willowmore at the Botanics grounds in a T20 match.
After losing two early wickets, Jean-Pierre (JP) Phillips and Samuel Bantom steadied the ship and the team ended on 157/5 - a very useful score mainly due to a captain's knock by JP Phillips who scored 64 runs not out.
Willowmore accepted the challenge and after nine overs had posted a healthy 69 runs without the loss of a wicket.
However, once the first wicket fell, the visitors succumbed to tight bowling from the Stallions and their run-chase came to an end.
After 20 overs the Willowmore side stood on 116/5 - 41 runs adrift.
The win was a great start for the Stallions, who are defending their 2023 title.
Stallions will face United on 27 January on the Fred Hufkie Oval in Kroonvale.
