NIEU-BETHESDA NEWS - The crowd exploded with excitement when the Young Stars Football Club, unbeaten in both the Youth Explosion tournaments and the Youth Explosion League, had to bend the knee in a 2-3 loss to a super motivated United Kings last Saturday. 

The victory was a historical moment for the young men of United Kings.

Denley Swartz, manager of the Youth Explosion League in Nieu-Bethesda, told Graaff-Reined Advertiser that United Kings had been slowly climbing the log ladder with a good gain of three points in the previous Saturday’s game, but their victory in the fifth game last Saturday, 16 May, caused a commotion.

The victory is a boost to other sides playing in the tournament, proving that no one always stays at the top, he said. 

“If the United Kings could do it, every team can do it. We could add 21 more players to our programme and we have 216 young players active at Youth Explosion at the moment. 

I am doing it alone, as a young man with a vision and a mission to show the young ones in our community that no matter what background you come from, you can fulfil a special space in your community,” said Swartz.

“During Saturday’s final game between the Young Stars and United Kings, Millon Davids scored two goals and Jason Tromp scored the final and stunning corner goal, which brought total hysteria over the spectators - and this superb feeling of exhilaration spread into the community.”

Jadewin Jansen was named man of the match, for brilliant ball handling and good sportsmanship during the game.

“It was a beautiful moment after the game, when the crowd was celebrating with them; the joy, the exhilaration and the excitement for the rest of the league,” Swartz said.
