Update
HOFMEYR NEWS - The greater communities of Hofmeyr, Eluxolweni and Twinsville are currently gathered in the local Chris Hani Community hall in Eluxolweni, to discuss the Christmas day tragedy where three girls died at a birthday party in a local Tavern.
The deceased girls were 15, 17 and 25 years old.
More teenagers are still sick in Cradock Hospital after a chemical was allegedly sprayed over the crowd in the tavern.
This meeting was convened in a few hours, by the Councillor of Hofmeyr, Mr Buti Quqa, representing the Enoch McGima Municipality.
Parents, the elderly, teenagers, church representatives, teachers, the police, business owners and families of the deceased girls are all present, whilst it is also reported that the MEC of the Eastern Cape and SAPS Station Commander of the Chris Hani district is also attending.
A representative from the Liqour Board is also in town, and was asked to be present. Names will be forwarded as soon as available. Mr Quqa is currently not available.
Another Tavern, The Blue Baboon Tavern in Voortrekker Street, Hofmeyr, was subsequently closed this morning until further notice.
"We expect that these Taverns will stay closed till further arrests have been made," reacts a good friend of the three deceased girls.
