GRAAFF-REINET NEWS – The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a weather alert earlier today which stated that light snowfalls can be expected over the Sneeuberg peaks tonight, October 16.
The snowfall is expected to continue into the early hours of tomorrow morning.
SAWS warned small stock farmers to take the necessary precautions.
Severe frost is also expected in places in the northern interior of the Eastern Cape.
Meanwhile damaging winds - in the form of strong North Westerly winds - are expected in the northern parts of the Eastern Cape east of Graaff-Reinet.
These winds may have strong gusts of 70- 80km/h.
