KAROO NEWS - Two ambulance personnel from Rescue 911, a private ambulance service in Oudtshoorn, died this morning (11 March), after the ambulance they were travelling in overturned on the N9, about 10km from Aberdeen.
The accident occurred just before 1am.
One deceased died on scene, while the other died on the way to Midland Hospital. A third man, also of Rescue 911, was transported to Midland Hospital with minor injuries.
According to the owner of Rescue 911, David Boois, it is unclear what caused the accident. "I spoke to one of them on his cellphone, just ten minutes before the accident happened," Boois said. He will travel to Graaff-Reinet from Oudtshoorn this afternoon.
The ambulance was not transporting any patients. The personnel were underway to Komani to pick up material to use at an event.
