GRAAFF-REINET NEWS & VIDEO - NEHAWU members in Graaff-Reinet are still participating in the national public service worker strike that started last Monday.
The strike followed failed wage negotiations between the union and government. The union wants a 10% wage increase while government is offering 4,7%.
This morning the Graaff-Reinet members took to the streets in a peaceful procession. NEHAWU announced that they will continue to strike until government agrees to the 10% increase.
"This government continues to show us the middle finger and display a high level of arrogance as it is totally disregarding the plight of workers, even with the ongoing facilitation process at the Public Service Coordinating Bargaining Council, hence the strike continues until the government accede to our demands," said NEHAWU.
