GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Counsellor Xolile Galada and Maureen Malaya appeared before court again today 26 July for their alleged involvement in the unlawful invasion of municipal property situated between Merino- and Aster Streets in Kroonvale, Graaff-Reinet.
This follows after the Dr Beyers Naude municipality filed and ex parte motion for a final interdict against them and ten other people in this regard late last month.
When Galada and Malaya appeared before court for the first time on 5 July a large number of people gathered in front of the Graaff-Reinet Magistrates Court to show their support, but today there were no supporters in attendance.
Malaya explained that people wanted to attend but they requested them not to as they knew that the case will be postponed and did not want to waste people’s time. The case was postponed until Thursday 3 August. Malaya is confident that the community will be there to support them. “People are really standing firmly behind us,” Malaya said.
