Golf
Rowan George won the weekly Graaff-Reinet sponsored golf day on Saturday 5 October.
George outplayed Dennis Hendricks (70 points), Eddie Nel (70 points), Dave Luscumbe (71 points), Chris Koeberg (72 points) and NJ Arnold (74 points). Luscumbe and Wagener took first and second places during the Gold Rush golf day on Wednesday 2 October, after a 35 point count-out. André du Plessis came third with 34 points.
On Friday 4 October, during the Club Sundowner, Wagener once again had to be satisfied with the second place, when he lost out on a count-out (15 points) to Jaco Venter. Frikkie Coetzee took third place (12 points).
Upcoming events:
On Saturday 12 October, the Midbord Hi-Q tee-off will be played, followed by the Graaff-Reinet Primary golf day on Saturday 19 October and the Saturday Bogey on 26 October.
All these golf days will start at noon.
Mountain Drive parkrun
Saturday's parkrun saw 80 participants.First-timer Corniel Vorster was first with 23:59, Breyton David second (24:49) and Dave Neill third (25:59). Zoe Hobson was the first woman to cross the finish line (30:58). Melissa Swart was second (31:17) and Izienne van Jaarsveld third (31:55).
Swart managed to record a new personal best. Volunteers who made the day possible were Peter Burdett, Johan du Plessis, Mike Calitz, Shirley Spencer, Rozelle Kohn, Kim Spencer Primic, Jose and Shawn from the ambulance service, and two rangers from SANparks.
