FOOTBALL NEWS - Twenty clubs that are affiliated with the Dr Beyers Naudé Local Municipality Local Football Association League for the 2023/2024 season started their games on 11 and 12 November.
One game, FC Galaxy vs Protea Spurs at Kroonvale soccer field, couldn't be played due to a shortage of match officials.
Games took place in Aberdeen, Jansenville and Graaff-Reinet.
In Stream A, Camdeboo Football Academy won 3-0 against Black Arrows, and Real Madrid triumphed 4-2 against Morocco Kids. In Stream B, X1 Attackers defeated Brazilian Kids FC of Aberdeen 7-2, while the Destroyers were also beaten 7-2 by Everton. At Masizakhe Stadium, Dangerous Darkies secured a 4-2 victory over Umasizakhe United FC (AmaHundela).
At Graaff-Reinet Primary School in Asherville, Jose Mourinho's team played against Sun-Rise FC.
Sun-Rise FC showed their strength, ending the first half on 2-2, but eventually lost 4-2 to Mourinho's team. Thembela "Geya" Futshane, the coordinator of the Local Football Association League, highlighted a shortage of match officials and appealed for assistance from community members with football referee experience in Jansenville, Aberdeen and Graaff-Reinet to help with league games. Supporters of Dangerous Darkies, dressed in their club's red and black colours, said they are determined not to succumb to setbacks this season after their absence from the Regional League last season.
The club, established in 1972, boasts fifty-one years of existence and aims to reclaim its position as the oldest club champs in the area.
Coach Kwanele "Scara" Jantjies expressed confidence in the team's strength and determination to win the league.
