KROONVALE SPORTS NEWS AND VIDEO - The Kroonvale Primary golf day attracted a field of 32 golfers to the Graaff-Reinet Golf Club where the autumn weather was as spectacular as the golf being played.
The course is in immaculate condition for almost mid-winter, with the greens yielding. Good golf shots were rewarded, and the team of Pieter Jooste and Eddie Nel played out their shoes to shoot a combined score of 49 points in the scramble format.
Derek Light and Godwin Bosch played delightful golf as they snapped at the heels of the leaders on a commanding 47 points. Third spot went to Rowan George and Ezra Gouws on 46 points with Noel Taylor Freeme and Derek Helm playing solid golf to end on 45 points. Rounding out the top five was Dennis Hendriks and Archie Welman on 44 points. The field prizes for closest to the pin were won by Bernie Weyer and Derek Light, while the longest drive was smashed down the fairway by Noel Taylor Freeme. The school ensured that all players in the field received a prize. The SGB committee then served a welcome meal to be enjoyed by the golfers.
This weekend will host a Better Ball Stableford competition on Saturday, with social golf most likely on Monday, the public holiday. Come out and play, you will really enjoy yourself.
