GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The Graaff-Reinet Club Chosen Pairs competition kicked off under rainy conditions on 18 January, as players battled it out in separate matches at the Graaff-Reinet Bowling Club.
Despite having to play in wet and cloudy conditions following much-needed rain the night before, the players were upbeat and their spirits undampened.
Five men's teams and the three ladies' teams entered for the Club Chosen Pairs, played over the weekend on 18 and 19 January.
The competition was keenly contested, but it was Priscilla West and Riana du Toit who triumphed in the ladies' section. Runners-up were Elna de Klerk and Alet Slabbert.
In the men's section, play continued on Sunday. Team Ivor Wakeford and Hansie Jordaan proved the winners, and runners-up were Oosie Oostenhuizen and Shawn West. The winning teams were presented their shields by new club president, Oosie Oosthuizen.
