NIEU-BETHESDA NEWS — ‘Die Sopkombuis’, a charity organization in Nieu-Bethesda, held a fun sports day for the children of the village on Monday, May 1.
A great deal of planning and organisation went into the event which culminated in old fashioned races and games being offered the children.
The elders of Nieu-Bethesda were invited to watch the games, and after a hearty breakfast of nourishing soup and bread, the fun ensued. Sack races, skipping, flat races and others resulted in much joviality and excitement.
Huge pots of samp and delicious stew were prepared for those who came along for the day.
‘Die Sopkombuis’ is extremely grateful to members of the greater community who gave so generously to make this event a success and would like to thank Carmon Bakery, Jenny and Peter, Venter’s Deli, André Kemp, Willie Olivier, Liesl and Flippie Loock, Elizma and Pierre Fourie and Barbara van den Westerzuin for their kindness.
The children of Bethesda certainly had a fun filled day!
