GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — At just over a year old and with 35 students of all ages, the Karoo OGKK (Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate Kyokai) dojo based in Graaff-Reinet was once again praised for their high standard of execution of the syllabus required for the grading exam on Friday, March 24.
Friday’s grading saw 21 local students put through their paces in the grading run jointly by Sensei Jannie le Grange from The Southern Cape Goju Ryu Dojo, located in George and Sensei Neville Jones from Graaff-Reinet.
In the Junior group (7 to 13 years) four students received their Yellow belt with eight students undergoing their second grading to receive Yellow +1.
In the Senior group (14 years and older) three students received their Yellow belt, four their Yellow +1, while Matthew Price and Jason Wright both received recognition of an extra stripe (Yellow +2) for their excellent efforts in exceeding the required standard.
Goju Ryu is a traditional style of Karate with its roots in Okinawa and is suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
