GRAAFF-REINET GOLF NEWS - Although a number of events in and around Graaff-Reinet has been cancelled or postponed in light of the coronavirus, the Proudfoot Golf Tournament will still take place on 19, 20 and 21 March.
"After due consideration the golf tournament is considered extremely low risk," said President of the Graaff-Reinet Golf Club, Bernard Weyer, after some locals expressed their concern. Golfers from across the Eastern and Western Cape will participate in the tournament.
According to Weyer, the busiest day of the tournament will see only 82 players, no spectators, and a number of players will likely not attend the prizegiving. He added that the club will take all reasonable precautions, and that players have the right to withdraw from the tournament.
"Unlike a contact sport like rugby, golf is an individual sport, and the golf course is spread over 25 hectares," Weyer explained. He said the participants will play in groups of four.
