GRAAFF-REINET GOLF NEWS - The 25th Proudfoot Tournament took place at the Graaff-Reinet Golf Club from Thursday 18 March to Saturday 20 March.
After good rain the course was in excellent condition and golf was played in glorious weather.
President Bernie Weyer says the tournament attracted substantial numbers of golfers countrywide, in addition to local members. Weyer says sponsorship of prizes has been overwhelming and gratefully appreciated by the club.
The overall winner of the tournament on 116 points was Weppie Weideman, who initiated the Proudfoot 25 years ago. Weyer says it was thus a fitting tribute that Weideman won the Proudfoot trophy on the quarter of a century anniversary.
The winner on Thursday was Sharon Shell on 41 points, winning on a count-out from Gerhard Fourie. Weppie Weideman was third on 40 points. The Thursday competition was sponsored by insurance group, Octofin.

Special mention needs to be made of retail group Spar, who was the main sponsor of the Saturday competition for the 13th year.
Riverside Engen once again provided sub sponsorship.
The winner on Saturday was Ryno Coetzee on 43 points, with Hein Cloete in second place on 42 points and Patrick Ludick third on 41 points.
