SOUTHERN CAPE NEWS - The National Golf Festival is back in the Garden Route with a bang. With The Pro Shop on board as the headline sponsor for 2017 the 4th edition of the festival will take place from 23 to 26 August after a hiatus of ten years when it was previously known as the First National Festival of Golf.
More than 1000 rounds of golf has already been confirmed and more than 300 golfers from across the country will attend, giving local tourism a healthy boost during the winter period.
The event offers a unique concept where participants can choose from 18 golf days at 9 top Garden Route golf courses, namely Fancourt Outeniqua, Fancourt Montagu, George, Oubaai, Simola, Mossel Bay, Pinnacle Point, Kingswood and Pezula, over the four days of the festival.
The festival caters for players of all skill levels no matter what their handicap and can be either fun or serious with a unique point system determining the overall winners that will be announced at a cocktail function at Fancourt after the final day's play.
More than R300 000 worth of prizes are up for grabs.
Fees have been kept very reasonable and local golfers are invited to take part in the event as they can determine their own itinerary and choose to take part in just one of the golf days, if they wish. The same applies for businesses who wish to sponsor tees and greens which will offer value for money marketing opportunities.
"The 2017 Pro Shop National Golf Festival will provide the Garden Route economy with a healthy injection during winter time and further cement its place a one of the top golfing destinations on the African continent. We are happy to be back and build this into a strong annual event, attracting major industry brands and celebrities, all whilst having a great time," says Charl Marais, founder of the event.
