GRAAFF-REINET GOLF NEWS - Because of the very welcome rain on Saturday, 8 September, the Graaff-Reinet Cricket Club's golf day scheduled for that day, was cancelled.
This will now take place on Saturday, 17 November.
The Graaff-Reinet Cricket Club's golfing competition on Friday, 7 September, was, however, played in icy cold damp weather.
The winner was Patrick Ludick with 36 points. Jacques Wagener came in second with 34 points.
The Wednesday Goldrush sponsored IPS competition played on 5 September was won by Wally Gentry on 33 points closely followed by Frikkie Coetzee in second place on 32 points.
This weekend, Saturday and Sunday, 15 and 16 September, the Graaff-Reinet Golf Club will host a Seniors Golf Tournament.
Sixty-eight players from the Eastern Cape, Northern Cape, Southern Cape and Free State will be taking part.
The Graaff-Reinet Golf Club is honoured to have been chosen to host this prestigious event.
The players will be teeing off from just after 10:00 on Saturday and will have a shot-gun start on Sunday morning.
Members are reminded that the course will be closed during these times.
On 22 September a charity golf day in aid of people with disabilities will be held on the local greens. Everyone is welcome to participate.
There will also be coaches to teach the golf basics at no costs. Further details about this event will follow in next week’s Graaff-Reinet Advertiser.
