GOLF NEWS - The Pick n Pay sponsored Medal competition, held on Saturday 6 July on the Graaff-Reinet golf course, was won by Dawie Jansen with a score of 70.
Dennis Hendriks was second with 73 on a count-out to Chris Koeberg.
Jacques Wagener won the Wednesday Gold Rush sponsored golf day, with Vlam Pretorius second and Nick Steyn third.
Upcoming golf events 19 and 20 July
Locals can look forward to yet another exciting golf weekend on Friday and Saturday.
The Sundowners competition on Friday will be played over nine holes. In the American Scramble Better Ball competitions, chickens will be up for grabs, and players are asked to bring along a non-member to partner with them to qualify for the prize. Participation and meal cost R120.
The Saturday morning and afternoon will see golfers participate in the Better-Ball Bokkedag. Golfers are asked to enter with a partner.
Locals need to hurry with their entries, as players from Port Elizabeth, Uitenhage, Jeffreys Bay, Cradock, and Somerset East have already started booking their slots. the players are most likely eager to win venison, which has generously been donated as prizes by local farmers. A hearty meal is included in the entry fee of R350.

Graaff-Reinet will host the annual Sanlam Cancer Day will take place on Saturday, with tee-off from 11.30am.
Golfers are encouraged to attend the day, as it is for a worthy cause.
