CRICKET NEWS - A sensational century after a no-ball reprieve by Fakhar Zaman, two contrasting half-centuries by Azhar Ali and Mohammad Hafeez and a devastating opening burst by the left-arm swing bowler Mohammad Amir propelled Pakistan to their first-ever ICC Champions Trophy at the Oval in London as they thumped the defending champions, India, by 180 runs on Sunday.
Pakistan struck 338 for four. India could only manage a lowly 158 in response.
It was a first-class surprise. India were the third-ranked team in the world and the defending ICC Champions Trophy champions.
Pakistan were ranked eighth and lost emphatically in the opening match against India in the current tournament.
India were blown away by a spectacular opening spell from left-arm swing bowler Amir, who took 3-16 and removed Rohit Sharma for a duck, Virat Kohli for five and Shikhar Dhawan for 21.
Hasan Ali wrapped up the tail by capturing 3-19, capping off a superlative tournament in which he captured 13 wickets as seam bowler.
