CRICKET NEWS - A phenomenal collective bowling performance, aided by crucial 50-run partnership for the eight wicket between Krunal Pandya and Mitchell Johnson, propelled the Mumbai Indians to a nail-biting 1-run win and a third Indian Premier League crown at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal, Hyderabad against the Rising Pune Supergiant on Sunday.
Jasprit Bumrah, arguably the best death bowler in the IPL, aided by Lasith Malinga, arguably the second best in the last five overs, and Johnson denied Pune with magnificent bowling at the business-end of the match. Pune could not score 30 off 18 balls to prevail.
Mumbai had to defend a lowly 129 for eight and managed it in world-class fashion.
Dan Christian had to hammer a boundary off the final ball to score the winning runs, but could only muster two and an exhilarated Mumbai celebrated ecstatically.
A stunned Pune – in control for 80 % of the match – was left stranded on 128 for six.
The crucial moment of the match came in the final over when Pune needed 11 runs off six balls off Johnson to clinch it.
