GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — This past Saturday, September 17, the Graaff-Reinet Cricket Club held their annual golf day, with Mica as their main sponsor, at the Graaff-Reinet Golf Club.
Fifty-two players took part in this Betterball Scramble Drive competition - the morning started with light rain, but turned out to be a fine and successful day for both players and sponsors.
At the end of the day, Lyndon Friend and Tim Hobson emerged as the victors with 51 points in total.
They were followed by Weppie Weideman and Niek Steyn in second place with 47 points and Carl du Plessis and Colin Warner in third place with 46 points.
The weekly Wednesday IPS competition, sponsored by the Desert Springs Spur was won by Johan Brink with 38 points while the Friday Betterball competition - also organised by the Graaff-Reinet Cricket Club - saw 16 players competing for the spoils - with Carl du Plessis and Johan Brink emerging as the winners of this competition which was sponsored by Camexo.
Wally Gentry and Dan Yeadon came in second on a count-out with their 25 points and Hein Cloete and Rhadus Loots came in third with 22 points.

• This coming weekend, September 24 and 25, the Graaff-Reinet Golf Club will be closed to normal play due to a senior's tournament being held on the local greens. Those still wanting to get in a round of golf this weekend, can tee-off on Sunday afternoon at 2pm.
