SOUTHERN CAPE NEWS - The SWD cricket team suffered a disappointing defeat in their Sunfoil Cup three-day match at the recreation ground in Oudtshoorn on Friday 3 March, after bowling out the visitors, Namibia for only 44 runs in their first innings.
Namibia recorded their first ever win against SWD in a first-class match with a 70 runs victory. It was the SWD batters who let the home side down as they failed with a first innings total of 88 that was followed-up with a second innings aggregate of 98.
Glenton Stuurman (7/12) was the bowling hero as Namibia was dismissed for 44 in their first innings to which SWD responded with 88. Stefan Baard (46) and Craig Williams (74) batted well in Namibia's second innings to ensure a total of 212 setting SWD a target of 169.
Glenton Stuurman (3/39) was again the bowling hero for SWD as he bagged 10 wickets in the match.
In SWD's run chase it was only Andrea Agathagelou (55*) that made an impression with the bat.
