GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The icy cold temperatures kept most parkrunners in their beds last Saturday and only a handful - 29 - turned up to tackle the scenic 5km Mountain Drive route.

Leon Marais was the first runner to cross the finish line in a time of 22:18. Must have been the cold that had driven him to finish so quickly. He was followed by Claire Lemke in second place in a equally quick time of 24:29.

Five athletes achieved personal best times. They were Claire, Hester le Roux (35:39), Stacey Jansen (38:28), Wilma van Rooyen (40:40) and Nadia Jansen (46:35).

The six volunteers who made this event happen were Mike Calitz, Johan du Plessis, Bronwyn Ferreira, Kim Spencer Primic, Shirley Spencer and Johan van Rooyen.

Race director Kim Spencer Primic has again urged parkrunners to register for the parkrun at http://www.parkrun.co.za/register. It's free. 

She has also asked people to get involved as volunteers.
