ATHLETICS NEWS - The good news for South African athletics fans is that the world's best long jumper, Luvo Manyonga, has only sustained a slight ankle injury and is already busy with rehabilitation.
According to Lee-Roy Newton, his agent, there is nothing to worry about; it is just important not to take any risks before the World Championships in London as there is a lot at stake for him.
Manyonga sustained the injury on Sunday competing at the Diamond League Meeting in Stockholm. He remained seated in the sand pit after his last jump of 8.20m. He could be seen that he was in some pain. He was clutching his left ankle.
Neil Cornelius (Tuks coach) said Manyonga would only do light training in the next few days.
