GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The DA Mayor, Honorable Ewald Loock, and Chief Whip, DA Cllr Ricardo Smith, of the Dr Beyers Naudé local municipality, have just been voted out at a Special Council meeting that is still in sitting at the Botanical Gardens in Graaff-Reinet.
This comes after the ANC has tabled a motion of no confidence against the Mayor and Chief Whip for the third time.
The meeting voted 12 against the motion and 12 in support of the motion.
The Speaker, CSA Cllr Cheslin Felix had the deciding vote which he casted in favour of the ANC motion. They will now elect a new Mayor and Chief Whip for the municipality.
Meeting was adjourned until 23 May 2022 at 14:00 pm in order to get a legal opinion on the entire process.
