NATIONAL NEWS - On 12 May, the Reach For A Dream (RFAD) Foundation will host its 7th annual Slipper Day, and is calling on the public to get behind this nationwide fundraising event.
Wristband instead of stickers this year
Instead of the usual Slipper Day stickers, this year the RFAD has teamed up in with DJ Fresh, Carrol Boyes, Roxy Burger, Lira and Gert-Johan Coetzee to design a special “strength, hope and courage” wristband, which entitles the wearer to don slippers to work or school on 12 May.
Committed to helping children endure the ordeal of a life-threatening illness, RFAD has seen how strength, hope and courage can keep dreams alive.
For this year’s Slipper Day, the Foundation has woven these ideas into the campaign; inviting local celebrities to create a design for the wristbands that embodies one of these values. DJ Fresh worked with Carrol Boyes to illustrate strength, Roxy Burger and Carrol Boyes took on courage and Gert-Johan Coetzee and Lira created the design for hope.
- South Africans are urged to come together to buy their Slipper Day wristbands for only R10 and to wear their slippers all day on Friday 12 May.
- Wristbands will be available at all Pick n Pay stores and Wimpy restaurants from 3 April 2017.
- Participation also entitles you to claim a free Wimpy coffee on the day.
