GEORGE NEWS AND VIDEO - The DA announced its new mayor, deputy mayor and chief whip minutes ago during a press conference in front of the George City Hall.

The new mayor of George is Browen Johnson of the DA, Gert van Niekerk of the FF Plus is the new deputy mayor, and the former mayor, Jackie von Brandis, is the chief whip of council.

These changes follow after a brand-new coalition was formed between the FF Plus, the DA and the ACDP. 

The new mayor, deputy mayor and chief whip will be inaugurated during a council meeting on Friday 21 November.

Meanwhile, the new three-party coalition is excited about what this means for George.

With the resignation of three DA ward councillors, it was evident that the DA found itself in troubled waters, losing its majority in Council. Now, with the four FF Plus councillors on its side, and the ACDP councillor relationship intact, it has reason to celebrate.
