MOTORING NEWS - Modern cars have crash safety many times better than even cars from two decades ago.
But none of the features that protect you in a crash like crumple zones, airbags and padded interiors are of any use if you don’t wear your seat belt.
Seat belts reduce the chances of death or injury in a crash by up to 75%.
A common mistake is that passengers don’t wear their seat belts in the rear seat, but research has shown that they can be flung forward into restrained front seat occupants, or into the windscreen. And of course, seat belts help keep you inside the car, where you are more like to survive a rollover.
So buckle up!
