GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The girls first hockey team of Union High School delivered a strong performance at their weekend fixtures in Makhanda.
On Friday, the team faced Victorian Girls High School and Union’s girls put in a dominant performance from start to finish.
Controlling possession and setting the pace, the girls created numerous scoring chances and secured a convincing 3-0 win.
The player of the match award went to Aaminah Steele for her energy and control in the final third.
Saturday’s encounter with Kingswood was more tightly contested, but Union’s tactical discipline and intensity once again shone through.
A brilliant midfield turnover led to a short corner, confidently converted by Tara Ferreira with a stunning drag flick.
The girls held firm for a well-earned 1-0 victory.

The U14A and U16A sides both fought hard, but ultimately went down 0-3, while the second team faced a strong opponent and lost 0-4.
