GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The 36-year old Nomphelo Maloyi and 35-year old Lwazi Kay who were arrested for the murder of 66-year old Mynhardt Maloyi in November 2022 is due to appear in the Graaff-Reinet Magistrates Court on 23 March.  

Mynhardt Maloyi is a relative of accused Maloyi and it is alleged that she arranged for Kay to kill him so that she can receive an insurance policy pay-out. 

His body was found inside his house in Henry Street, Graaff Reinet with stab wounds to the upper body. 

Maloyi and Kay first appeared in court on Monday, 12 December 2022 and were denied bail. 

According to Warrant Officer Nkohli Majola, spokesperson for SAPS in the Sarah Baartman district, the court has since added six charges ranging from murder to insurance fraud to the initial murder charge.
