KAROO NEWS - The Graaff-Reinet Golf Club is currently due for its annual course maintenance programme.
In the meantime, the golf community is getting excited about the second annual Town versus Country tournament, scheduled for 28 October on Graaff-Reinet's golf course.
Last year saw an excellent turnout of 60 golfers, with 30 farmers and their families from outside of town competing against 30 town residents in a match-play team competition.
The competitive spirit of the team competition resonated well with our local golfers, who relish the opportunity to play as part of a team rather than as individuals.
The success and enjoyment of last year's tournament led everyone to commit to participating in this year's event.
During the tournament, players team up, with two golfers from each side, and compete in a Ryder Cup-style format, featuring six holes of foursomes, six holes of better ball matches, and six holes of singles. Each player contributes to their team's points tally, making it an engaging and entertaining day for all.
Last year, the town team clinched the Camdeboo Cup with a score of 10 matches to five, but the farmers have pledged to assemble an even stronger team this year in their bid to claim the trophy.
If any players are interested in being part of this exciting event, please contact the Graaff-Reinet Golf Club on 040 555 0036 for more information. The event promises to be a highlight for the Graaff-Reinet golfing community, fostering camaraderie and a love for the game.
