GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Retired educator Mvuleni Mhlana of Nqweba Secondary School recently received an award at the Sadtu Eastern Cape Provincial Awards for being the top history teacher - for the third time.
The awards were held at the International Convention Centre in East London.
Mhlana had rendered his services at Nqweba Secondary, giving 39 years of unwavering commitment to the education sector.
He officially retired from his role at the school in December, marking the end of a remarkable career.
Mhlana was awarded once again as one of the top candidates in the subject history.
The first time was in 2019 with 100%, the second in 2023 with 95%, and now, for 2024, he received 96.6%.
The top candidates were selected from each region for each subject. They had to go through a thorough process.
Only 12 managed to go through to the end in the history category, Mhlana being one of them.
