Update
STEYTLERVILLE NEWS - Tensions continue to mount in Steytlerville, as police opened fire on crowds of residents early this afternoon (Tuesday).
The residents were gathered to hear the outcome of the meeting concerning the construction workers from Limpopo, and refused to leave when told to do so by the police.
According to police spokesperson Col Sibongile Soci, POPS members warned the residents several times, with no success, before using stun grenades and rubber bullets to disperse the crowd.
Four people were hit by rubber bullets, including a 52-year-old woman who was on her way to the local clinic.
The situation is tense this afternoon, as members of the community are not happy with the proposed solutions.
