WILLOWMORE NEWS - Despite recent awareness campaigns and picket protests against rape-crimes, three more cases were reported within the Graaff-Reinet cluster between 10 and 17 September.
In yet another shocking rape investigation, it is believed that a 7-year-old girl from Willowmore was possibly raped by a 15-year-old boy on 14 September.
According to the police, the incident took place in a riverbed.
It is believed that a witness to the alleged incident had reported it to the young girl’s mother.
“A witness saw the suspect having sex with the victim in a river,” said the police.
The commander for the Graaff-Reinet police cluster, Brigadier Rudolph Adolph said the suspect was not arrested and that the case is under investigation.
Another rape incident was reported in Aberdeen on 15 September where a 40-year-old woman who was sleeping alone, woke up and found someone with her in her bed.
The female victim apparently saw her rapists face before he allegedly covered her face and had intercourse with her.
Adolph confirmed police are investigating a case of rape.
“The victim saw the suspect’s face and recognized him,” said Adolph.
He said the suspect was arrested and will appear in court.
In another incident, also reported on 15 September, a 23-year-old woman from Umasizakhe in Graaff-Reinet reported that she was raped by a man known to her.
The woman was with a friend at a local tavern and was seen leaving with the man.
Police said the victim admitted to having had too much to drink.
It is believed that the woman does not know how she ended up at the alleged suspect’s residence.
According to the complaint she later woke up naked at the alleged suspect’s place who is believed to also be lying naked next to her, instinctively believing he had sexual intercourse with her.
Adolph said the case is under investigation and no arrests had yet been made.
