GRAAFF-REINET NEWS— Three convictions were secured by SAPS in the Graaff-Reinet district in the last week.
For stock theft, one suspect was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, with no option of a fine. One conviction for drunken driving resulted in a R5 000 fine or 24 months imprisonment, suspended for five years, and for theft, the convicted suspect was given a fine of R1 500 or three years, suspended for three years. A total of 28 arrests were made in the past week. Five were for assault GBH, with another three for common assault. There was a further arrest for domestic violence, and two for crimen injuria.
In property-related crimes, there were three cases of robbery, two housebreaking and theft, and two for malicious damage to property. One suspect was arrested for theft of a motor vehicle, and one for theft.
There were five arrests for drugs, for possession of Mandrax, and only three drunk and disorderly cases this week.
