GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Two people were convicted for murder last week, and both were sentenced to five year’ imprisonment. A sentence of five years was also given in a case of fraud, but this was suspended for five years.
Several arrests were made during the last week by the Graaff-Reinet cluster.
One person was arrested for murder, another for attempted murder, and two for assault, one of which was assault GBH. Another was arrested for domestic violence.
There was one arrest for stock theft, and two for shoplifting. Two people were taken into custody on outstanding warrants of arrest.
For the following crimes, there was one arrest in each category: malicious damage to property, theft out of a motor vehicle, housebreaking and theft, and theft.
There was also one suspect arrested for possession of dagga.
A total of 15 people were arrested for being drunk and disorderly, and a further 9 for drinking in public. One traffic fine was issued.
A knife, clothing, shoes, dagga, a wheelbarrow, an axe and a set of vehicles were confiscated during the last week.
