ROBERT SOBUKWE TOWN NEWS - Five students of the Graaff-Reinet Raptors Mixed Martial Arts Club recently competed in the Ring Contact Fighting Arts International (RCFAI) Championship, held at Emerald Casino in Vanderbijlpark.
This prestigious event featured international competitors representing different age and weight divisions, who contested a range of ring contact fighting disciplines.
The Raptors students performed exceptionally well and were awarded the following medals:
Ethan Pannies:
- Semi-contact High Kicks: Gold
- Semi-contact Sport Boxing: Silver
- Full-contact Sport Boxing: Gold (unopposed)
Arno van der Merwe:
- Full-contact High Kicks: Silver
- Semi-contact Sport Boxing: Silver
- Full-contact Sport Boxing: Gold (main card)
Arné Oosthuizen:
- Semi-contact High Kicks: Silver
- Semi-contact Sport Boxing: Silver
- Full-contact Sport Boxing: Gold (unopposed)
AJ Cronje:
- Semi-contact High Kicks: Gold
- Semi-contact Sport Boxing: Silver
- Full-contact Sport Boxing: Silver
Jean van Wyngaard:

Joe Gildenhuys:

Arno van der Merwe was chosen for the ‘main card’ of the evening, effectively the headlining fight, which was a remarkable achievement and immense honour.
