KAROO NEWS - The rivalry between town and country is as old as time.
Nowhere was this more evident than on 11 November when the Camdeboo Cup competition kicked off with a shotgun start and the Dorp "kant" took on the Plaas "kant" during the annual competition.
This social sporting event made for a great turnout with cheeky competition between the sides.
The course was lined with fun watering holes sponsored by local businesses to keep the players motivated and hydrated in the hot Karoo sun.
Plaas "kant" captain Neil Dodds is no stranger to the game, having grown up on sand greens with prickly pear bushes as distance markers. Dodds relished the opportunity to drag his farmers team into the winner's enclosure, prevailing with a 72 to 64 points win.
Derek Light, who captained the Dorp "kant", humbly handed over the trophy and congratulated the winning team. The event was concluded with a prize-giving, a sumptuous meal and a great evening.
The Graaff-Reinet Hospice also benefitted from a generous donation of R30 000 from The Summit Wildlife as part of their social responsibility programme.
Along with fellow organiser Derek Light Attorneys, the Summit Wildlife would like to thank every player who arrived on time and entered into the "spirits".
The prevailing Plaas-“kant” team dressed in blue winning with 72 to 64 points in the better ball combo.
