KAROO NEWS - The One’s Fate Foundation conducted another successful sanitary drive from Wednesday to Friday last week. On Wednesday they initiated the drive by donating sanitary towels to the learners of Spandau and Nqweba Secondary Schools in Graaff-Reinet.
They then proceeded to the Midland Hospital’s maternity ward to donate sanitary towels to women who just gave birth.
The next day they expanded the drive to Somerset East to visit Aeroville and Johnson Nqonqoza Secondary Schools and WG Olivier Primary School.
The drive was concluded by a visit to the Siyaphambili Safe Haven, a shelter for abused women in Graaff-Reinet, where they also participated in a National Women’s Day programme.
Asherville Secondary School failed to collect their donation, but it will be delivered to them before the end of this week.
According to Mbulelo Tini, chairperson of the foundation, Somerset-West and Nieu-Bethesda will be included in their future drives. “The foundation is growing, and we have enough support to make meaningful changes in these communities,” says Tini. “This aligns perfectly with our slogan: Healing hearts one day at a time.”
Tini expressed his gratitude towards their partners – East Cape Midlands College, Goldrush, Kelston, PEP Stores, and Spar – for their ongoing support. He also thanked the Graaff-Reinet Advertiser for the media exposure that contributed to them securing support for their sanitary drives.
“We recently received 87 boxes of sanitary towels. In one box there are 4x12x8 pads,” says Tini. “This is a huge boost for our drive for underprivileged schoolgirls.”
